Sencha written in Japanese is 煎茶, with 煎(sen) meaning roast and 茶(cha) meaning tea. As the most cultivated tea variety in Japan, the steaming of the tea leaves results in  a bright, vegetal, and savory notes.  Sencha is so popular in Japan, it is consumed everyday.  Drinking green tea everyday can lower your risk of cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and is very good for your skin. You can drink it on its own throughout the day or pair it with seafood or unsweetened pastries during meals. 

 

Caffeine Level: Medium

 

Make: Use 1 tsp. of tea per cup at 165F for 2 minutes.  Can be reused up to 4 times.
